Procter Programs
About Our Programs
As a ministry of the Diocese of Southern Ohio, Procter Center witnesses to the Good News of God’s love by embodying and teaching creation care, spiritual growth, hospitality, and belonging.
Procter is 1200 Acres of Mission
Procter’s Programs can be broken down into three major groups: Camp WILD, Spirit & Sabbath, and Farm Camp. While they have different approaches, all three exist to witness to the Good News of God’s love by embodying and teaching spiritual growth, hospitality, and belonging through a more significant experience and understanding of Creation Care.
Below, you will find a breakdown of each program house’s particular strengths, and some sample activities.
How to engage:
Full Procter Programs are available at Procter for school groups, youth groups, parish retreats, men’s and women’s retreats, and other community gatherings at Procter.
Procter Mini-Programs are available at churches, during Sunday School and formation hours, at diocesan events, and at schools. Procter Mini-Programs offer participants a slice of the Procter Camp experience in their own context.
To book a Procter Program at camp or at your location, please contact Jerusalem Greer (co-executive director) at jgreer@proctercenter.org and Wylie Greeson (resident assistant for farm and programs) at wgreeson@proctercenter.org.
Procter Program Overview
Camp WILD
Camp WILD provides Creation Care and faith-centered creation-awareness through engagement with non-domesticated wild spaces. Activities are primarily hands-on and focus on observation, stewardship, and Earth Science principles.*
Sample activities include:
- Walking Sticks & Forest Walk
- Creation Perspectives
- Lake Life
- Foraging Together
*The degree to which this program is explicitly faith-based will be determined by the needs of the group. I.e., the core of Camp WILD and Farm Camp will always include a faith lens by nature of Procter’s identity as a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio; however, how that is articulated for public school programs would be implicit instead of explicit.
Sprit & Sabbath
The place where Creation Care, Christian formation and Worship come together. Spirit & Sabbath programs offer opportunities for embodied learning, community connection, spiritual renewal for all ages.
Sample activities include:
- Brother Sun, Sister Moon Prayer Walk
- Farm to Forest – A Creation Care Leader’s Retreat
- Certificate for Agrarian Ministry
- Farm to Table, Table to Soul Eucharist
Farm Camp
Connecting us to one of the oldest human skills, Farm Camp brings us Creation Care and faith-centered creation awareness to the domesticated community of flora and fauna at Procter. Each hands-on activity serves to bring awareness to sustainable practices, agricultural history, stewardship, and connection.*
Sample activities include:
- Composting 101
- Animal Care
- Farm-to-table Cooking
- Seed Starting
