About Procter

The mission of Procter is to embody and teach creation care, spiritual growth, hospitality, and belonging, through becoming beloved community.

Procter Summer Camp, a ministry of Procter Center in the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio, creates a place for children, youth, and families to grow in faith, sing, learn, play and pray in the peaceful farmland outside London, Ohio. By demonstrating and encouraging Christian community we are showing daily what the world could be like. At Procter, the camp staff is intentional about sharing God’s love with one another and our campers; children and adults. We seek and serve Christ in all people with whom we interact at camp, modeling joy, respect, and inclusiveness.

Our Program

Procter is a ministry center of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio, offering summer camps for children, youth, and families. As part of the Episcopal Church, we believe all people are loved by God, no matter who they are or what their life is like. Christian Formation is an important part of our program; we share stories and learn together, say prayers and sing together every day.

Campers and staff members of all faiths and the LGTBQ community are welcome.

At Procter, we canoe, fish, have campfires, sleep outside, create art, do chalk murals, play sports and wacky games, and explore the farm and natural world around us.  Serving on a camp staff is a formation experience in itself.  While care and safety for campers is always a staff members first priority, personal, faithful and professional growth results from serving and living in community.

Counseling is a 24/7 job. Days off will vary based on camp schedule.

Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Counselors eat three meals per day in our Dining Hall, but also have access to their own cabin kitchen, which comes stocked with basic utensils and cookware.

Housing

Counselors will be provided housing onsite. Accommodations are modest and comfortable, with access to hot showers and a shared kitchen. Wi-Fi is not always available in the cabins, but access to Wi-Fi is always available in the center’s main building.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Prolonged standing, stooping, lifting, walking long distances daily, requires typical range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate camper activities and programs, willing to participate in activities in and around water (pool, lake and pond).
